Paper Meditations: What We Were Never Meant to Carry

Meditations on Philippians 4:6-7

Tell God what you need, and thank him for what he has done.

Part of the journey we walk is to again and again hand over to God what we are never meant to carry. One of those things we hand over to him is our needs. Things he knows we need.

There is an invisible transaction that takes place when we by faith give to him the needs, burdens, cares, worries and anxieties of the heart. We can only trust what we read here (and many other places) to be enough.

It’s important we put to words to our needs. It’s often a matter of just not letting pride keep us from voicing them. It’s a place of dependence and humility. We acknowledge the fact that we have needs to begin with.

Also, we must remember to put to words our needs is for our benefit. Not God’s, other than we voice our dependence and our hearts connect in an intimate collision of human and Creator.
